THE impending birth of his first child might mean Carl Tremarco will have to pass on the opportunity of representing his country.
Wrexham left-back Tremarco has been selected to represent the England C team in a friendly with Bosnia and Herzegovina which will be played in Sarajevo on Tuesday, September 19.

Reds' team-mate, centre-back Darran Kempson is on standby.

The squad will travel to Bosnia on Sunday, September 14, two days after Tremarco's partner is due to give birth.

Although delighted to have been called up by England boss Paul Fairclough, the 22-year-old admits he wants to be present at the birth.

"I was delighted when I heard I was in the squad, though it was unexpected," said Tremarco today.

"I got the phone call off Geraint Parry to say I have been selected and it is brilliant news and I am made up.

"It would be nice to go over there and play for England but I don't want to miss the birth.

"I am going to have to sit down and talk about it with the missus, but you never know, she may give birth next week. I will discuss it with Brian Little and Paul Fairclough, and wait and see."

The fixture is at under 23 level and is being used as preparation for the final International Challenge Trophy qualifying match in Italy in November.

Wrexham players are available to play for different international squads now that the club is in the Blue Square Premier and whether or not he makes the trip, Tremarco is proud to have been recognised by Fairclough, who would have seen what Tremarco is capable of in his other role as boss of League Two side Barnet.

"I don't want to miss either of them to be honest, the birth or the match," said Tremarco.

"I want to go away on international duty. It would be fantastic to go and a great honour.

"It is a big opportunity for me and might never happen again.

"I'm sure I would enjoy it and if I go, would just try and do my best if I get the chance to play.

"Hopefully I would do myself and Wrexham proud.

"Darran is on stand-by and it would be good if he is called-up too."

Kempson was also pleased to have been selected by Fairclough, though the summer signing from Shrewsbury has played at this level before.

"I have played for the team before, in a Four Nations Tournament held at Eastbourne," said Kempson.

"It was against Wales, Scotland and Ireland and I think we finished as runners-up.

"I'm delighted to be in the manager's mind once again and hopeful that I might get a call into the travelling squad."

However, Tremarco is putting the international call-up to one side for now.

Wrexham make the trip to surprise leaders Salisbury on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at Altrincham on Monday.

That was the third away game of the season without a victory and Tremarco is looking for Wrexham to make amends against Salisbury with a much improved performance.

"This is a personal achievement but I have got to put it to one side for now because Wrexham have got a big game against the leaders on Saturday," said Tremarco.

"And we need to sort our away form out. It was a poor performance against Altrincham and we know we are better than that.

"We had a good win against Oxford and training was great last week, but it just did not happen at Altrincham. We need to put it right on the day."

Tremarco denies that, at this stage of the season, it is a must win game at Salisbury but admits a first away win would be the ideal response after the Altrincham stalemate.

"I am not sure if it is a must win game for us," added Tremarco. "At the end of the day, we haven't got to the end of August yet.

"But we don't want to lose any game we play in and we have got to come away from Salisbury with something, and it would be nice to get that first away win.

"The games are coming thick and fast, but that is to be expected in this division.

"The good thing is this is a chance for us to bounce back straight away after the set-back at Altrincham."
