WOMEN'S CRICKET - Chester close in on title
AFTER two victories in as many days, Chester Boughton Hall Ladies now need only one more win to successfully defend their league title.
The club, who have already clinched their place in the Twenty20 Knock-Out Cup Final, defeated Brooklands in their latest league match.
The hostile opening attack of Suzi Walker (0/1) and Nic Capes (3/0) proved unplayable and tore the Brooklands upper order apart, leaving the visitors on one run for three wickets after six overs.
Capes opened with a double wicket maiden to leave the visitors on the back foot.
Annette Axon (2/4) and Nat Kelly (2/42) joined the attack and helped dismiss Brooklands for 74 in the 26th over.
Mandy Humphries (8no) and Ali Cutler (38no) led their team to an emphatic victory in the 14th over.
Boughton Hall defeated Oakmere in their Knockout Cup semi-final.
Ali Cutler (20no) retired before Sal Cowap (20no), Lorna Thomas (20no) and Nic Capes (21no) all had to retire as they helped Boughton Hall remain undefeated as the innings closed on 123/2 off 20 overs.
Victoria Latham (1/20), Annette Axon (1/9), Nat Kelly (1/9), and Suzi Walker (2/7) took the wickets and reduce Oakmere to 86/5.
