CHESTER head coach Rob Foden is anxious to see his side stepping up to the challenge.
Foden has described his team's current poor run of form as 'a nasty wake-up call' ahead of their home match against Peterborough tomorrow at Hare Lane.

Chester were beaten by a last minute penalty last weekend against league leaders Old Luctonian
s, and Foden said: "We are all looking forward to an entertaining game against Peterborough after providing a much improved performance against Old Luctonians.

"The match against Peterborough, who have lost to two of the same teams, and beaten the same team as Chester, will gauge how far Chester have developed in the first four weeks of the season.

"I think the players have had a nasty wake-up call in the last couple of weeks and now realise just how big a step up they have to make to be competitive in Level Five rugby.

"I mentioned the idea of training three times a week at the beginning of the season which was frowned upon but this week that is exactly what we have done.

"The challenge to the players has been laid down by the opposition in this league and if we are serious about national rugby then we have to do what it takes on and off the field to get there.

"I am looking forward to Saturday as I think I have seen the beginnings of something that could turn out to be special in this side. We shall see."

New signing, Dewi Parry, has joined Chester from Aberystwyth where Aled Evans used to play. He has joined as a hooker and makes his first team debut this weekend.

CHESTER 1st XV: Richard Moore, Dewi Parry, James Whitlock Wainwright, Patrick Hughes, Gareth Sanger, Chris Lewis, David Legat, Ross White, Tom Foden, Simon Love, Simon Verbickas, Liam Lawton, Ed Chantler, Sean Green. Subs: James Duckers, Gareth Martin, Gareth Coy.

Chester Second XV travel to Kendal, and Chester Third XV entertain New Brighton.

Chester face New Brighton at Birkenhead Park on Tuesday in their Cheshire Cup quarter-final tie (8pm kick-off).

Midlands One league leaders Luctonians travel to third placed Broadstreet tomorrow, while second placed Newport entertain Kenilworth.

Hinckley face a home derby against South Leicester, while Kettering travel to Bedford, and bottom club Malvern play host to Longton.
