DON LAYFIELD has carded a score lower than his age.
The 80-year-old won the May Division Three title at MOLD with a score of 79-18=61, ahead of runner-up, John Harley (84-17=67), and third placed Richard Moore (91-22=69).

Don has now had his handicap reduced from 20 to 16 in the last four weeks.

Four Llanymynech golfers have had sucess in the Menorcan Amateur Golf Open.

Charlie Jones and Bob Hardy put in fine performances to finish equal second in the nett competition with Charlie winning the nearest the pin in the Super Seniors section.

The following day was the Texas Scramble and the Llanymynech Drifters Team of Brian Beckett, Dave Jones, Charlie Jones and Bob Hardy came in with a six under par round of 63, net 59, to take the title.

Bill Hughes and Dave Talbot won the CLAYS Seniors Pairs Betterbal with 42 points ahead of Ray Martin and Graham Stokes 41pts, with Ken Lawrence and Trevor Davies third on 40pts.
