WEST CHESHIRE LEAGUE - CHRISTLETON boss Paul Hughes is aiming to see his side build on their midweek derby win against Blacon Youth Club.
The Little Heath club travel to Maghull tomorrow in Division One on the back of a convincing 5-1 victory at home to Blacon Youth Club.

Hughes said: "I've got a strong squad of players and that should help us for the remainder of the season.

"We've made a number of new signings and I've now got strength in depth for several positions.

"It's a far cry from the start of last season when we were struggling due to a lot of players deciding to leave the club."

Hughes was impressed with the way in which his team took control of the midweek match against Blacon after a disappointing start to the contest.

He added: "We sorted our problems out in the second half after Blacon forced our keeper, Adam Bedford into a number of good saves before the break.

"I was disappointed to see us concede a goal towards the end of the match, but there were a lot of positives to take out of the game.

"I was delighted to see Adam Kelly coming through 90 minutes because he's struggled to attend our training sesions and I'm sure he'll now get stronger as the season progresses.

"New signing Lewis Mitchell scored twice and I was impressed with the way he and Alec Hutchinson finished their chances in front of goal.

"But we were also indebted to Sean Kilgannon, our skipper Sean O'Rourke, and Craig Warrington who played so well against his former club."

Hughes has doubts over the availability of Ian Mitchell, Lee Butterworth, and Liam Patton for tomorrow, but he is hoping to include
Ben Carrigan, Paul Sweeney, Luke Hunt, and Ben Heath in his squad.

Upton AA boss Dave Wright plans to see his side securing all three points from their visit to Halton tonight.

Upton AA surrendered a 2-0 half-time lead in midweek at home to Runcorn Town who levelled matters in the final minute of the match.

Wright said: "We should have been 3-0 up at the break, but we failed to take our chances and it was unfortunate to see Runcorn pinching a point so late in the game.

"We only had the bare 11 players available against Runcorn and we played well in the first half.

"Danny Andrews and Ollie Robinson both scored to put us in front and they have been playing well in our three games against top sides so far this season.

"I've been wary of the lack of numbers in our squad, but we're going to have to play with what we have."

Upton AA have a doubt about their central midfielder Akos Kodacs and influential striker Simon Andrews is being ruled out of the team due to work commitments.

Tom Fellows, who was introduced as a substitute on Wednesday night against Runcorn, will be expected to line-up as Andrews' replacement.

Blacon Youth Club boss, Peter Hughes, will be looking to see his side bounce back to winning ways tomorrow when they travel to Heswall.

Chester Nomads continue their Division Two campaign tonight at Mossley Hill Athletic.

Meanwhile, four Chester-based clubs are involved in West Cheshire Shield First Round ties tomorrow.

Blacon Youth Club reserves entertain Southport Trinity reserves, St Werburghs travel to Marshalls, Christleton reserves make the trip to RRR Jacobs, and Upton AA reserves entertain FC Pensby.
