BLUE SQUARE NORTH - VAUXHALL MOTORS are determined to build on their first victory of the season.
Boss Carl Macauley is preparing his side for action at home to Blyth Spartans tomorrow at Rivacre Park, (3pm), on the back of Motors' 1-0 midweek win against Burscough.

Substitute Anthony Wright scored Vauxhall's winning goal in the second half ag
ainst Burscough just minutes after his introduction, and Macauley said: "Things are going well at the moment.

"I've criticised our inability to hold onto a game once we score, but I was delighted to see us beat Burscough.

"We've shown a lot of character in recent weeks to come back into games.

"We had a good performance in our 1-1 draw at home to Stalybridge Celtic and we're doing well to compete against sides who atttract bigger crowds and a bigger budget to spend on players."

Macauley confirmed that Motors would be at full strength for tomorrow's encounter.

Alfreton Town put their credentials to the acid test tomorrow when they travel to face unbeaten league leaders Southport.

The Reds are unbeaten in four games - all of which have been drawn - and if goals have been somewhat hard to come by, that is countered by the fact that the defence have only conceded twice.

And having seen his side already return from high-flying AFC Telford United on August Bank Holiday Monday with a deserved point, manager Nicky Law is looking forward to pitting his side against the title favourites.

He was in buoyant mood following a 1-1 draw at home to Tamworth on Tuesday night and said: "If I am honest I thought we did very well against a good, well equipped side.

"Looking at the league and results I think it has gone up a level again.

"It is very early days yet and same as everyone else, we are trying to iron out our inconsistencies.

Second placed Harrogate Town travel to Tamworth, while Stalybridge Celtic make the trip to Farsley Celtic.

Hinckley United face a tough test at Hyde United, while Gateshead play host to Steve Bull's Stafford Rangers, and Droylsden will fancy their chances at Solihull Moors who suffered a 5-0 midweek setback at Stalybridge.

Former Vauxhall Motors striker, Terry Fearns, will lead the front line for AFC Telford United at home to Gainsborough Trinity.

Bottom club Hucknall Town will be eager to hoist themselves off the foot of the table with a home win against Burscough, second bottom Fleetwood Town travel to Kings Lynn, and Workington entertain Redditch
United.
