STEVE OGILBY is confident his young team will improve as they mature.
The Chester Boughton Hall skipper, preparing his side for tomorrow's Premier Division match at struggling Widnes, believes his club can finish in a top-four position in the league table.
He said: "We were obviously very disappointed to lose our league cup semi-final last weekend against Bowdon.
"But we have reached the finals day for the last two years and we are having to compete against clubs who have signed contracted players.
"Clubs like Bowdon and Alderley Edge have invested a lot of money in their attempts to be successful.
"But Boughton Hall take pride in the fact that we produce home grown players from our youth ranks.
"Our players have proved they have the ability to compete against the big clubs in our division and I'm confident they will continue to get better with maturity – we're not too far away."
Ogilby revealed that Jack Yates was replacing Dave Atkin for Boughton Hall's match at Widnes.
He added: "Widnes are a team that I know we can beat and it's a chance for us to consolidate our position in the league table.
"We were disappointed to see our match against Heaton Mersey rained off last week, but the Widnes game gives us a chance to score maximum points and have a chance of moving into the top four.
"We have a lot of strength in our batting and I'm hoping we can show our bowling and fielding qualities and collect 25 points which will help our cause with just five games left."
CHRISTLETON still have their sights trained on a top four finish in Division One.
Club captain Paul Allen believes there is still an opportunity for his side to clinch a good position and build towards next season ahead of his team's home match against Timperley tomorrow.
He said: "We're still looking to finish in fourth place by targeting four victories from our last five games.
"And we're also looking to rotate our junior players by playing one junior in the first team each week from tomorrow until the end of the season.
"I need to know what our younger players are capable of in the first team because it's a massive step for any young player who has been playing junior cricket or been involved in our second team.
"Experience of first team cricket is essential for any youngster targeting a regular place.
"We have a fantastic under 15s team, so I know the junior players are there and I'm more than confident they will come through."
Quick bowler Richard Sissons will step into the first team from the seconds tomorrow alongside Guy Newell, Matt Parkinson, and Jason Ashcroft, but Chris Brooks returns to the second team as captain, and both Simon Ratcliffe and Simon Jones are unavailable.
