CHESHIRE COUNTY LEAGUE PREVIEW - After their impressive start to the Cheshire Premier League season, Boughton Hall will be aiming to overcome visitors Toft tomorrow.
Hall posted a competitive 174 all out before reducing their opponents to just 101 last week, and captain Steve Ogilby highlighted his delight at the bowling attack – and debutants Neil Pearson - the former Gwersyllt Park seamer – and Darren Cruickshank in particular.

"Neil took a wicket with his first ball for the club and went from strength to strength.

"His spell after the initial wicket turned the game around for us and it was fantastic to see.

"Both he and Darren produced some brilliant cricket and finished with some very good stats.

"Our bowling attack is looking very strong for this season and Neil will play a major part of that"

Despite the comfortable win, Ogilby hinted that there was room for improvement amongst his players, adding: "We need to bat better as a unit.

"The batting in our team is strong all the way down to number seven but apart from Darren, who scored an excellent 95, we struggled.

"We have had the bowling machine out on the wicket and had time in the middle. It is not easy going from indoors where you know the bounce to a green track with the ball not coming on to the bat."

Hall's batting line-up will be boosted by the return of Tom Ducker.

The impressive batsman was unsure whether he would play this season but Ogilby is glad he has commited himself.

"He is a first team batsman and a very good player. It is great to have him back."

Ducker replaces Nick Massey in the team for the match against Toft.

Christleton will be looking to add an improved batting performance to their impressive bowling attack tomorrow as they entertain newly promoted Bollington in Division One.

The hosts were largely disappointing with the bat in their winning draw with Poynton as they struggled to 155 for 9 off their 55 overs.

But kipper Paul Allen feels there is not too much to worry about at this early stage of the season.

"The batsman have looked in good form throughout the winter and in the nets so one failure is not a major concern.

"We welcome back Simon Rattcliffe who is a class batsman and that will strengthen the line up.

"We need to give Poynton credit as bowled very well and accurately and the pitches aren't the best at the start of the season."

Bollington were bowled out for less than 100 runs in their first match in Division One and with Christleton chasing the title, nothing less than a win will satisfy Allen.

"We need to beat these sides to achieve our title hopes and anything less than a convincing win is unacceptable," he added.

TATTENHALL will attempt to extend their good form at home to Marple tomorrow.

Trinidadian paceman, Damian Lewis, who took 9 for 52 off 23 overs, steered Tattenhall to success in last weekend's opening Cheshire County League Division Two match against Marple.

And Tattenhall skipper Rob Mulvihill is confident that his team can reproduce their fine form against Marple.

Mulvihill will be looking towards opening batsmen John Hope and John Gibbon to get the side off to a good start, backed up by Andy Mitchell and Mel Dobson.

Gary Forster, who supported Lewis in the bowling attack last weekend, will be aiming to take a few wickets as Tattenhall aim to repeat a 22-point haul.

Premier League fixtures: Chester Boughton Hall v Toft; Macclesfield v Bowdon; Nantwich v Heaton Mersey; Neston v Hyde; Oulton Park v Urmston; Widnes v Alderley Edge.

Division One (1pm): Birkenhead Park v Bramhall; Cheadle Hulme v Upton; Christleton v Bollington; Oxton v Cheadle; Poynton v Didsbury; Warrington v Timperley.

Division Two (1pm): Bredbury St Marks v Grappenhall; Burnage v Irby; Hale Barns v Mobberley; Stockport Georgians v Middlewich; Tattenhall v Marple; Winnington Park v Sale.

Alvanley will search for their first win of the season at Mere in Division One of the Cheshire League.

Captain Mark Syzmura saw Alvanley draw their opening match at home to Congleton, despite Australian, James Wheelahan, and Chris Charles impressing with the bat, and Dave Shewring featuring prominently with the ball.

And Chester County Officers will meet Barrow for the first time in six years when they clash in Division Two.

Officers suffered a nine wickets defeat last weekend against Barnton, despite a fine innings from Chris Wright.

Saughall will attempt to capitalise on home advantage when they face Norbury tomorrow in their Cheshire Alliance League Division Two match.
