CHESHIRE COUNTY LEAGUE - STEVE OGILBY realises the importance of clinching victory from tomorrow's Premier Division match at high-flying Bowdon.
The Chester Boughton Hall skipper is confident his side can mix it with the best in the league and step up their bid to challenge for honours.

He said: "Bowdon are a very good team, but we've got nothing to lose and we showed our potential a few weeks ago when we beat Oulton Park.

"I think we have a team that can compete with the best in this division and we have nothing to fear from any side we face."

Boughton Hall are currently fourth in the league standings, two places and 25 points adrift of Bowdon who are contending for the Premier Division title.

Ogilby welcomes back Freddie Owen and George Robinson tomorrow, who replace Nick Massey and Dave Atkin.

Owen returns to action after captaining Cambridge University in last week's Varsity Match against Oxford University, and Massey is unavailable due to his relocation.

Boughton Hall are still without Warren Goodwin who is continuing to nurse a broken finger, and Ogilby is in no doubt about the key to a victory against Bowdon.

He added: "Jim Gillson did well for us last week when he scored 60-odd, but we are still waiting for our overseas player, Daron Cruickshank, to fire on all cylinders after looking good with the bat.

"But our top five players in the order need to start building partnerships because that is the key behind winning games.

"If we can start building stands I'm convinced that we can then start putting a good score together.

"Individually the players are working hard at their game, but now we need to start forging partnerships."

Ogilby is hoping his team can provide a morale-boosting performance in readiness for Boughton Hall's scheduled Twenty20 Trophy tie against Oulton Park to be played on July 17.

Paul Allen will take charge of his CHRISTLETON side for their Division One home match against Oxton tomorrow.

Allen is hoping to see his seventh-placed team build on their draw against high-flying Poynton last week.

Iroshan de Silva will be attempting to continue his good form after top-scoring with 52 runs and producing bowling figures of 3-38 against Poynton.

Second-placed Oxton have only lost once so far this season and will provide a test for Christleton.

* Boughton Hall have been drawn at home to Oulton Park in the Fred Graham Twenty20 Trophy Fourth Round draw – games to be played by Friday, August 1: Alderley Edge v Timperley; Marple v Hyde (holders); Chester Boughton Hall v Oulton Park; Grappenhall v Bowdon.

The semi-finals and final will be played at Timperley, on Sunday, August 10.
