CHESHIRE COUNTY LEAGUE - CHESTER BOUGHTON HALL inflicted Oulton Park's first league defeat in three years.
Park's run came to an end in a low scoring Premier Division match as Stephen Ogilby's Chester side edged home by eight runs.

Chester's openers added 21 before Guy Emmett got the breakthrough having Warren Goodwin caught (5). 29-2 limped to 44-3 before Jim Gillson went to Nathan Dumelow's spin.

Ogilby was seventh man out for 47, which included an invaluable 33-run stand with Matt Griffiths, and Chester had moved on to just 104. Alex Kegg hit a crucial 17, well supported by Andy Leech (12), and Chester closed on 145 all out. Dumelow's accuracy earned him 4-26 and young spinner Craig Williamson grabbed 3-27.

Oulton Park opener Johnny Kettle went for 4 and his team were on the ropes at 10-2 when Louis Bentley followed shortly after.

Ben Spendlove, who was dropped on 41, looked capable of steering the visitors through at 75-6, but Kegg had him caught behind for 54 and at 88-7 Chester had their tales up again.

Emmett and Chris Jones scored an eighth wicket partnership of 42 to take Park to within 15 runs of victory when Ogilby played his last throw of the dice replacing Kegg after his tremendous 6-59 with Daron Cruickshank.

Jones (33) went lbw and then Williamson went next ball. Emmett was caught by Cruickshank.

Park had lost their last three wickets for seven runs and Chester had secured a memorable victory.

But Boughton Hall suffered defeats in their Echo Knockout Trophy and Cheshire Cup ties staged on Friday and yesterday respectively.

Chester mustered 106-6 from their 20 overs at Wallasey in the Echo Knockout Trophy.

Only Cruickshank (49) and Ollie Law (24) managed double figures, Cruickshank hitting three big sixes and Law one, but the second half of the innings proved tricky against a decent spin attack. Having made 72 from the first 10 overs, Chester managed just 34 from the second to end on 106-6.

Despite good bowling spells from Mike Robinson (2-27) and Cruickshank (2-37), Wallasey got home in the dark with five balls to spare.

Boughton Hall crashed out of the Cheshire Cup with an emphatic 51-run home defeat to Bowdon.

At 16-3, Alex Kegg was on fire and by the time he'd bowled his seven overs, he'd taken 4-15 and Bowdon were in trouble.

Lancashire's Gareth Cross led the resistance with 57 and with Ollie Law picking up 2-25 and Matt Griffiths 2-23, Chester were reasonably
pleased to have reduced Bowdon to 136-9.

Warren Goodwin and Eddie Roberts coasted to 28 before losing two wickets in two balls. Roberts drove to cover and was well caught for 15 whilst Tom Ducker went for a duck next ball.

Ogilby went shortly after for six and with Jim Gillson was also out cheaply. Matt Griffiths batted well for his 29 but after that the tail folded to some excellent bowling which saw Cross complete a fine all round performance with 4-16.

CHRISTLETON enjoyed a three wickets victory at Birkenhead Park in Division One.

Matt Parkinson took 4-54 alongside Iroshan de Silva (3-13) and Rick Moore (3-16) to skittle Park all out for 104.

Simon Ratcliffe smashed an unbeaten 54 runs in Christleton's winning
reply of 107 for 7 off 40 overs.
