MIDWEEK CRICKET ROUND-UP - Sean O'Neil was the star man for Ashton Hayes as they beat Division One league leaders Hawarden Park who posted a par score of 140-7, O'Neil taking 3-27 from his five overs.
In reply, O'Neil capped off a fine performance with 64 as Ashton crossed the finishing line just two wickets down.

Second placed Barrow A failed to capitalise on Park's surprise defeat as they crashed to a 45 run loss at home to Boughton Hall, who scored an impressive 163-4 before restricting Barrow to just 118-8 off their 20 overs.

Bunbury secured their second win of the season after Gwersyllt failed to raise a side.

Northop Hall held their nerve against Christleton Lions as they moved above their opponents into first place in Division Two.

Hall were forced to settle for 122-9 as I Richards bowled superbly to pick up 4-26.

In repsonse Christleton looked on course to take maximum points, but Hall managed to stop their charge four runs short of the winning post on 119-5.

Waverton tasted defeat for the fifth time this season as they were thumped by Llay Welfare.

After making just 97 all out Waverton were powerless to stop the home side reaching 98-1.

Saughall leapfrogged opponents Backford Hall after overcoming their opponents by six runs.

Hall managed to restrict the visiting side to 109-8 but could not muster enough runs in an unsuccessful chase, ending their innings on 103-7.

Castell Alun and Legal Eagles encounter fell foul of the rain.

Carlton Tavern strolled to a ten wicket triumph over Division Three basment club Mynydd Isa despite an imposing total.

Isa had scored 160-3 as Chris Geary smashed 85 before James Evans (71 not out) and G Allen (61 not out) led Carlton home inside 17 overs.

Bank of America gave themselves a five point lead at the top of the division with a seven wicket win at home to Growhow.

After the visiting side had scored 128-7, C Newton (55), the leaders reached the winning target just three wickets down.

Northop and Bromborough's encounter was rained off.

Tarporley opened up a four point gap at the top of Division Four after beating Halkyn by 40 runs.

L Heritage struck an undefeated 76 out of a total of 137-2 before Halkyn were restricted to 97-7 from their 20 overs.

Burton (92-1) cruised to a nine wicket win over bottom of the league Royal Oak (91-8) while Castrol (101-1) eased to a nine wicket success over lowly Eastham Xbatters (98-6).

Frodsham moved level with Academicals in second place after defeating their opponents by two wickets.

Academicals scored 122-7 before Frodsham crawled over the finishing line eight wickets down.

J Wheelahan (4-12) and S Walden (4-22) produced an excellent bowling display to secure a 33 run triumph for Little Oak Taverners over Saightonians in Division Five.

Andy Bennion (63) had given Little Oak (118-5) a target to bowl at before Saightonians were dismissed for just 85.

Half centuries from Ian Barlow (62) and Dipak Jena (56 not out) could not prevent Castle Square Cutters from losing at Outlaws.

Having scored 148-4, Barlow and Jena watched as Outlaws strolled to 149-2 to claim maximum points.

A Hodgkins blasted 60 as Airbus made light work of struggling Corus, posting 131-5 before dismissing them for just 58. The match between Mill Brow and West Cheshire College fell foul of the rain.

Terry Hassall (5-27) helped Dodleston crush HSBC Chester by 30 runs in Division Six.

After setting 108 for victory, Hassall was the tormentor in chief as HSBC fell to 77 all out.

Connah's Qauy opened up a two point lead at the top of the division after beating their nearest rivals City Bar by seven wickets.

City Bar had made 125-7 before Quay eased to 126-3.

Manor Athletic smashed a mammoth 217-7 in their success at The Fields (133) while Wirral (140-4) overcame Shotton (92-9).

Buckley closed the gap on Maritime at the top of Division Seven after beating away side Heberians by eight wickets.

The hosts restricting Heberians to 102-3 before easing to 103-2.

Red Lion (83-5) saw off the challenge of second from bottom Maeshafn (82-7) while Maritime's scheduled encounter with Kingsley Knights was rained off.
