SEVEN West Cheshire AC members experienced the two-day English Schools' Track and Field Championships at Gateshead.
Chris Goodwin finished fourth in his heat of the junior boys 800m with a time of two minutes 6.13 seconds.

Bryony Potter, representing Merseyside, clocked 42.15 seconds for seventh place in her heat of the inter girls 300m.

Alice McMahon blasted her way to a time of 26.54 seconds for sixth spot in her heat of the junior girls 200m.

Sam Galley finished fifth in her heat of the inter girls 200m with a time of 26.11 seconds.

Alice Jennings cleared 1-47m for joint eighth position in the junior girls high jump competition alongside Victoria Anderson.

Kate Titlow, called up for Cheshire as a reserve, finished 14th in a time of 10 minutes 58.89 seconds in the senior girls 3,000m.

And Sian Kelman posted 5.37m for seventh position in the senior girls long jump event.

Kate and Sian then combined in the senior girls 4x10m relay and finished second for Cheshire in their heat with a time of 49.81 seconds, and were then sixth in the final.

Alice Jennings and Alice McMahon teamed up for Cheshire in the junior girls 4x100m relay and secured fourth place in their heat with a time of 52.42 seconds.

Other local athletes in action included Danielle Bentley who hit 36.13m for fifth spot in the inter girls javelin.

And Helsby High's Lawrence Walker rounded the senior boys 2,000m steeplechase in 6:02.47 for third position.

DAVE McKAY launched a throw to a best mark of 63.74m for 10th position at the Olympic Trials held at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium.

And ex-West Cheshire AC member, Charlotte Roach, finished seventh in her heat of the ladies 1500m with a time of 4:31.29.

CARL VAN SCHIE posted a new personal best points total of 6,082 to finish 13th in the Hexham Combined Events International.

Carl competed against athletes from Holland, Lithuania, USA, Tunisia and some of the best Great Britain decathletes including Dean Macey who was chasing 8000 points for the Olympic A standard.

Carl's results included 11.76 seconds for his 100m, a long jump of 6.38m, a new best put of 10.86m in the shot, a 1-77m clearance in the high jump, and 51.21 seconds in the 400m.

Day two included a 17.40 seconds run in the 110m hurdles, a throw of 33.62m in the discus, a new best of 3-80m in the pole vault, and a time of 4:40.54 in the 1500m.

WEST CHESHIRE'S girls spearheaded the club's charge at the second round of the Cheshire Track and Field League held at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port.

Leah Ferrie posted 26.8 seconds in the under 15 girls 200m, while Alice McMahon (27.3), Danielle Erskine (28.0), and Alice Jennings (29.2) won their races.

Jenni Potter, Karri Broster, and Ashlea Allen also contributed before McMahon, Jennings, Ferrie, and Erskine won the 4x100m relay.

Laura Rigby posted 28.7 for second spot in the under 13 girls 200m, while Olivia Montez-Brown (30.5), and Kelly Baker (30.1) won their races.

Olivia (2:41.5) and Abbie Rithie (2:44.8) finished first and third in the A 800m race, while Sally Pickering (2:56.6) won the B race and Laura Rigby was third (3:08.2).

Kelly Baker cleared 1-31m for second spot in the high jump, and Lucy Earl secured second in the B event with 1-20m.

The quartet of Montez-Brown, Baker, Earl, and Rigby won the sprint relay in 58.0.

James McMahon (3.70m) and Daniel Vickers (3.45m) won the under 11 boys long jump events, supported in the age group by William Menzies, Josh Bate, Charlie Lloyd, and Jack Johnston.

Amy Williams (10.9), Charlotte Williamson (11.8), and Georgia Barlow (11.2), won their under 11 girls 75m races, and Tess Corr was second in 12.0.

Amy (3.99m) and Charlotte (3.36m) won in the long jump, while Olivia Williams (12.34m) and Sophie Baker (10.30m) finished third A and second B respectively in the soft javelin.

And the quartet of Williams, Williamson, Barlow and Corr won the sprint relay in 60.6.

Alan Littler was the only senior man in action, scoring points in three events, and Kate Titlow was first lady in the 3,000m with 11:06.8.

Chris Godwin won the under 17 men's 1500m (4:35.5) and Tom Booth was fourth in 4:50.2.

Stephen Jones won the under 15 boys 100m (12.5), while Joseph O'Riordan posted 13.3 for second place, David Donkin won in 13.6, and Charlie Chempson won his race in 14.2.

Michael Bailiff (1-63m) and Joseph O'Riordan (1-48m) won in the high jump, and David Donkin won the B shot with 6.44m, and the quartet of O'Riordan, Jones, Donkin, and Clempson won the sprint relay in 53.7.

Oliver Wedgewood, Harry Woodward, Callum Graham, Oliver Ashworth, Jordan Rodgers, and Alex Kirk scored points for the under 13 boys squad.

MATCH RESULT: 1 Crewe and Nantwich 405 points; 2 West Cheshire 315; 3 Altrincham and District 271; 4 Bury 251; 5 Halton and Frodsham 177; 6 Vale Royal 147.

UNDER 11s: 1 Crewe and Nantwich 104 points; 2 West Cheshire 101; 3 Halton and Frodsham 69; 4 Bury 51; 5 Vale Royal 44; 6 Altrincham 21.

FIXTURES this weekend include West Cheshire AC's final round match of the Young Athletes League Northern Premier Division at Kingston upon Hull, on Sunday.
