Slideshows>> The Zens>> Face for RadioIt's a shame more did not turn out to see these two in action, but they certainly rewarded old fans and found new ones before the night was over.
First up were The Zens (previously known as Blind Zenith) with Dave Banks (vocals) Jon Campbell (guitar, vocals) Phil Seagrave (guitar, vocals) Karl Sturgeon (bass) and Tom Mulholland (Drums).
The Zens describe their music as a cocktail of rock and blues, soul and funk, all served up in nuggets of rock energy. In recent months, the band has gained attention from music industry stalwarts like ex-Led Zeppelin and U2 press man BP Fallon, and gained airplay on radio stations both in England and internationally. Top three numbers were All in my Head, Really Got to Go, If I try.
Next up were Face for Radio with Ian Ratcliffe (vocals) Jay McKettrick (drums) Glen Bridge (guitar) and Steve Burns (bass).
Face For Radio are also a Liverpool-based rock outift with a sound best be described as melting pot of classic rock influences with a healthy amount of their own pioneering rock soundscapes thrown in for good measure. Originally formed in 2006 they have cemented themselves as a live favourite on the local scene. Top three numbers were: Underground, Take me and Sin City.
