MUSICIANS and songwriters have joined together to record a charity CD to raise money for a hospice serving Chester, Ellesmere Port and Deeside.
The 20-track CD entitled Dreamscape is a mixture of live tracks and studio productions and features songs written and performed by regulars at the open-mic night at Alexander's, Rufus Court, Chester.
The recorded artists include performing arts students from the University of Chester and Anna Murray, a local acoustic musician who sings the title track.
David McClenaghan, chief executive at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd at Backford, regularly attends the open-mic night at Alexanders and hopes the launch of the CD will raise money for the hospice and get local musical talent recognised.
He said: "The CD is a good listen and it's supportive of young singer-songwriters in the area. It's a good way to get their work known and to hopefully get community support for the hospice from the people in Chester and Cheshire."
The successful launch night was held at Alexander's on Sunday and tracks from the album were played. The evening was also supported by live performances from many of the featured acts and Roots Chord, a rootsy acoustic band.
The CD will be available for a minimum donation of £5 from Alexanders on 01244 340 005. It will also be on sale at Grey-n-Pink Records in Brook Street and all five Hospice of the Good Shepherd charity shops across Chester.
