FIREFIGHTERS rescued a mother and her young child from the bedroom of their burning house in Ellesmere Port.
The woman and the three-year-old child became trapped in the bedroom after a fire broke out in the living room of their home on Ashfield Road, Ellesmere Port.

Fire crews carried them to safety after putting up a ladder to the first-floor bedroom w
indow.

The cause of the fire, which happened in the early hours of Saturday morning, is being investigated.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The service received a call at 3:51am on Saturday to a report of a house fire with persons reported trapped.

"Two appliances from Ellesmere Port and one from Chester were sent to the scene, and on arrival crews found the house well alight and two persons trapped in an upstairs bedroom.

"Crews reached the trapped persons by ladder and rescued them, and they were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution but later released.

"Crews used four breathing apparatus sets and one main jet in putting out the fire, as well as using a positive pressure fan.

"They then used a thermal image camera to ensure no fire had spread to adjoining properties.

"Fire investigation officers are currently examining the cause of the blaze."

Firefighters who carried out the rescue had visited the property previously, giving safety advice and fitting free smoke alarms which alerted the family and ensured they could be rescued.
