ONE of the Chester's top tourist attractions is extending its opening times for special summer events.
Chester Zoo is staying open until 9pm on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, August 16 to allow visitors to enjoy an evening at the zoo.

The 'Lazy Summer Evenings' will see visitors serenaded by a string quartet on arrival, and then taken for a ride on t
he zoo's waterway by a waterbus.

Guests can also take a stroll around the grounds, visiting animal houses such as Elephants of the Asian Forest, Spirit of the Jaguar, Realm of the Red Ape and Islands in Danger.

Liz Thwaite, head of visitor services at Chester Zoo, said: "There is nothing nicer than a typical English summer evening when you can just relax and unwind.

"The Lazy Summer Evenings are the perfect way to enjoy some family time, kick back and have some fun and at the same time meet some of our magnificent animals."

The event on August 16 will follow an African theme, including a barbecue and special animal trail for visitors. There will also be entertainment from the Zulu Warriors group.

The Lazy Summer Evenings are flagship events for Cheshire's Year of the Gardens, a year-long celebration promoting the best of the county's gardens.
