PRIMARY school pupils are taking an active role in the running of a Chester school.
St Theresa's Primary Catholic High School, Kipling Road, Blacon, have formed a school council to allow pupils' opinions to be heard.

The council recently voted on more bins in the school grounds and a fresh water dispenser, both of which have been introduced.

Headteacher Nicola Kirkman said: "We're trying to have a pupils' voice in the running of the school. The council meets in their classes once a fortnight and take their ideas to a school forum.

"They wanted more bins, so they ordered them and chose the ones they wanted. They also wanted fresh filtered water, but it is on a monthly trial to see if they use it sensibly.

"The children are taking on a lot of responsibility and we're really pleased with how they're doing it."
