A RETIRED physicist from Chester has been put forward for an award for epitomising 'living younger'.
Margaret Francis, who nominated her husband for the Live Younger Personality of the Year Award 2008, says, at 79, he has a fitness regime to rival a 20-year-old.

Peter Francis, of Vincent Drive, Westminster Park, walks several miles a week and goes swimming every other day, to keep fit and young.

Mrs Francis said she nominated her husband because of his active lifestyle.

"He is determined to stay fit and does this by swimming a mile three times a week at our local baths and walking a total of two miles," she said.

"He loves gardening and goes on walking holidays several times a year, visiting the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales with an organised group.

"He has been learning Spanish for a year and has also set up an historical website on military communications. On top of all this, Peter eats healthily and keeps his mind active, reading scientific books and writing fiction.

"He truly deserves to be crowned Live Younger Personality of the Year."

The winner will win a holiday of a lifetime to a destination of their choice.

Mr Francis said: "We're looking forward to the holiday if we win. That would be great."

The award is backed by www.nutriprofile.org and a shortlist of 12 regional winners will be selected to go into the final.
