A SECTION of the A55 near Chester was closed on Friday night after gas cylinders exploded.
Firefighters remain at the scene of a blaze in Chester to cool down a number of other gas cylinders.

A section of the A55 between the Post House roundabout at Wrexham Road and Broughton reopened at about 8.30pm on Friday October 10.

The carriageway was closed for public safety after two acetylene cylinders exploded in a workshop near to Meadow Cottage, Balderton Lane, Roughill around 4pm.

The closure led to severe congestion around the area and there were reports of traffic being affected as far away as Manchester.

Roughlyn Crescent in Roughill, Marlston-cum-Lache remains closed and residents stayed in a hotel or Lache Community Centre for the night.

For pictures and the full story on the explosions see the Monday edition of the Evening Leader.
