A Level results day in Chester

A Level students in Chester are celebrating after another successful year of exam results.
Ten Bishop's High School students in Chester are celebrating after achieving 35 grade As between them.

The Boughton Heath school is delighted with the results and headteacher Justin Blakebrough says it is their best year with the percentage of top grades rising to 71 per cent.

Top performers were Zack Coates, Chris French, Sarah Griffith, Jack Macklenburgh, Josh Richards, Ben Stenhouse, Lee Williamson, Carolyn Wilson, Ruben Wolff and Elen Gwynne. All achieved at least three A grades with several gaining four.

Yvonne Blackburn, head of sixth form, said: "We are delighted with the results, but of all our students.

"This year's results are the best ever and are a result of the hard work and commitment of teachers and students."

Almost a third of King's School A-level students achieved straight grade A results.

Teachers and students at the Wrexham Road, Chester, school are celebrating the fantastic results with nine students heading to Oxford or Cambridge universities.

Gordon Beck from Chester gained six A grades and an AEA* in History, Adrian Tickbridge and James Andrade, both from Chester, achieved five A grades, Leo Scott, from Chester, gained five A grades and an AEA in Biology and Joe Lloyd, from Marford, gained five A grades and an AEA in English.

In total, 14 students achieved four A grades and 14 achieved three A grades.

Headteacher Chris Ramsey said: "It is a tremendous set of results and my congratulations go to all our sixth form students who have worked so hard during this year.

Staff and students at St David's High School in Saltney also have good reason to celebrate.

Headteacher Tony Davidson said: "We really are pleased. Congratulations and well done to all."

Students at Castell Alun High School in Hope were said to be 'overjoyed' this year.

Headteacher David Mountfort said the school had an entry pass rate of over 99.1 per cent
