RYAN LOWE today admitted he is ready to lead from the front for Chester City.
Striker Lowe is relishing the chance to help his club secure their first victory of the season at home to fellow strugglers Barnet at the Deva Stadium on Saturday, (3pm kick-off).

He said: "We need to pick ourselves up and every player in the team now needs to stand up and be counted.

"A few players have admitted they haven't played to the best of their ability and we things aren't the brightest within the camp at the moment after the start we've had. But we've now got to get our heads down, work hard, and start to turn things round.

"We all know the situation and we're all prepared to get behind the manager because he picks the team.

"I feel it's all about our attitude - it's time to start realising that we're in a dogfight.

"We can't afford any complacency because the clubs behind us in the league table have been deducted points.

"People may think we're safe already, but that's not right."

Lowe welcomed the idea of the club strengthening it's squad ahead of Monday's transfer window closing.

The attacking midfielder is in his second spell with Chester, joining the Blues in pre-season from Crewe Alexandra.

He added: "Our league position and our results speak for themselves.

"I would agree that we have to strengthen our squad because even top clubs like Manchester United need to strengthen their large squad.

"There are positions that need competition and I'm prepared to play anywhere and give 110 per cent after the beatings we've taken so far this season.

"I've been playing in attack so far and I'm keen to score some goals to lift the team.

"I'm aware that people have been criticising our formation and the way the team lines up. They've been saying we shouldn't play like this or that, but at the end of the day it's just 11 versus 11 and it's all about sticking the ball in the back of the net."

"We've got Eddie Johnson on trial at the moment who I know well from our time at Crewe. I know he's champing at the bit to play games for us. He's a class player and he's been training hard. Now he's just waiting for the nod so that he can sign."
