The Chester City skipper believes his side can secure success from their Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round tie against Morecambe at the Deva Stadium, (7pm kick-off).
Chester are offering reduced price admission tickets for tonight's match, with all under 16 year olds being admitted to the ground free of charge if they attend the game with an adult who pays the cut price admission of £10.
Linwood is determined to put City's 2-0 home defeat at the weekend behind and focus on progress in the trophy.
He said: "I don't know if Morecambe are too interested in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but we want to win the competition.
"We want to go as far as we can because there's a big carrot at the end of the competition with a trip to Wembley.
"We've got to get Saturday's defeat out of our system, analyse it, and then come out with all guns blazing tonight."
Chester look likely to name a full-strength team against Morecambe.
Defender Kevin Roberts could return after serving a one-match suspension while Anthony Barry and Jay Harris could be given starting roles.
Morecambe are without defender Danny Adams (virus) and winger Paul Lloyd (ankle) is also out.
The Shrimps are also missing Matt Blinkhorn and Michael Howard.
Midfielder Neil Wainwright may start.
Blues boss Simon Davies said: "We're at home and we've got to take the game to them.
"It's a competition we feel we can do well in and it would be nice to put a good run together.
"I think like many teams in our division we've got to be careful at set-pieces.
"We've got to be aware of players in the Morecambe side like Dave Artell and make sure that we don't concede goals like we did on Saturday against Lincoln."
Reflecting on the Blues' weekend defeat which ended a five-game unbeaten run, Davies added: "Everyone was distraught in the team after our 2-0 home defeat against Lincoln.
"We were on a roll before the weekend, being unbeaten in five games, but that was undone against Lincoln.
"Nothing came together for us against Lincoln and it was a poor display from all of us.
"Our problems weren't just in going forward – nothing really worked.
"We tried to carry the way we had played in our previous five games into the weekend, but Lincoln did well to be fair and when one team do well and the other side aren't at the races there's only going to be one winner.
"Lincoln adapted better to the poor weather conditions. They won most of the battles and from the first five minutes we knew it was going to be a scrap.
"When we were losing we needed to make changes and there were a number of lads that could have come on and we have got options.""
Chester's scheduled home match against Port Vale, on Sunday, October 19, (12 noon kick-off), is not all-ticket for Chester supporters who can pay at the turnstiles on the day of the game. But visiting supporters must purchase their tickets in advance of the match.
