Just the ticket
TONY ALLAN believes Chester City are on target with their season ticket sales.
The Blues' club secretary admitted he had been pleased with advanced sales and hoped fans could take advantage of remaining discounted season ticket prices.
Allan said: "Season ticket sales historically have always been very important for any professional football club because the revenue generated primarily helps the club going through the summer months.
"Season ticket sales have so far been encouraging which tends to be the norm at Chester City anyway. We are well on target at this moment with our sales.
"The offer of five free games plus a car park pass has proved to be very attractive.
"Even now, in what I term the second phase of ticket sales, people purchasing their season tickets up to and including June 30 will get five free games which is obviously quite a saving.
"For those people who decide to wait from July 1 onwards, they still get three free games which is still a substantial saving."
Allan believes the news of City being handed a home draw against Leeds United in the Carling Cup first round would definitely prove beneficial for additional season ticket sales.
He added: "One of the benefits of having a season ticket will come to light with the Leeds United game because obviously season ticket holders will have priority to get their cup ticket.
"Leeds at the Deva Stadium is a pretty attractive game, so we believe there will be a good take up of people who are wanting to attend the match.
"It's great to be in the position of not having kicked a ball yet, but knowing we're going to be facing a big Carling Cup home tie against Leeds United who are still a very attractive and colourful football club.
"I can't ever remember Leeds coming to the Deva Stadium, but there are still plenty of fans who tell me about when we played Leeds in 1973 and I'm sure they're looking forward to it.
"People must remember that those with a season ticket will get into the queue earlier than those who don't have a season ticket.
"We're all full of expectation before the new season starts and it's a mix of reasons why people want to buy their season tickets earlier than others.
"I just hope we can go on to bigger and better things this season as opposed to the disappointment of last season."
Allan confirmed he had spoken to the police about the Leeds United match – which is an all-ticket tie – and added: "The Leeds tie will be an all ticket match and hopefully within the next few days I will be making an announcement regarding the ticket details."
Meanwhile, Chester have confirmed that they are expecting to sign Chester-born Eddie Johnson later this week.
Johnson, a former Bishops High School pupil, has been released by
Bradford City.
