KEVIN ELLISON is ready to remind Peter Taylor of his ability.
The Chester City attacking midfielder comes face to face with the Wycombe Wanderers boss in Saturday's league match at the Deva Stadium, (3pm kick-off).

Ellison revealed that he has a lot of respect for Taylor who managed him at Leicester City and Hull City.

Ellison said: "Peter Taylor is a fantastic coach and the best manager I have played under.

"I have the utmost respect for him because he gave me my chance in professional football when I moved from Altrincham to Leicester City.

"He is highly regarded in football and I remember him taking charge of England and appointing David Beckham as the team captain.

"It will be good to see him again on Saturday, but I'll be doing all I can to wreck his team's chances of going home with a win."

Ellison is determined to play his part in turning Chester's form round after seeing his side concede 11 goals in their league and cup matches against Dagenham and Redbridge (6-0) and Leeds United (5-2).

He said: "We owe it to our fans to prove we can play a lot better than we have shown so far.

"I know the majority of people wouldn't have expected us to beat Leeds in our Carling Cup tie on Tuesday night, but seeing us trail 5-1 at half-time was totally unacceptable.

"We now owe it to our fans and to ourselves to hit back and beat Wycombe on Saturday, but it's now a bigger game than it looked when we started the season.

"We desperately need to put things right even if we don't know why we have started so slowly in the two games we have played so far. We need to be geared up for Saturday and I'm sure we will be.

"I still have the picture in my mind of our fans who travelled to Dagenham and Redbridge, who paid good money and stood on the terrace behind the goal getting wet. We owe it to them to get something out of this Saturday's match."

Ellison revealed the disappointment in the dressing room after the Dagenham and Redbridge match.

He added: "We were all massively disappointed after our 6-0 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge.

"It was the worst game I've been involved in, but it was the way we went about it that disappointed everybody.

"Everybody expected a lot more from the team with us making a lot of new signings – it just wasn't good enough because I believe we've got a better squad of players than last season.

"Our performance in the first half against Leeds on Tuesday night wasn't much better.

"When we went 3-1 down the body language said it all. I just thought 'here we go again.'

"In many ways we were all glad that we had a match again so soon after the 6-0 defeat because we all wanted to put last Saturday behind us as quickly as we could.

"But we made little errors in a bad start and we got punished. We had to change things at half-time, sort a few things out, and show a bit of fight.

"Ryan Lowe was quite vocal during the break and we all admitted that individually and as a team we needed to look at ourselves.

"It is important that we put the two defeats behind us and start to focus on getting things right against Wycombe."
