Chesterfield boss, Lee Richardson, watched his team dig deep in their 2-2 draw at Morecambe last weekend after trailing 1-0.
And Richardson is hoping his players can show the same commitment and desire when Chester visit Saltergate tomorrow.

The Spireites have a number of injury doubts ahead of the clash against the Blues.

Richardson is hoping ex-Luton Town midfielder Darren Currie can recover from an ankle injury he sustained at Morecambe, while utility player Gregor Robertson and central defender Arron Downes are both struggling with leg injuries ahead of tomorrow's match.

But Richardson will welcome back ex-Huddersfield and Wales defender Rob Page, and midfielder Lloyd Kerry, after both players served three-game suspensions.

Goalkeeper Tommy Lee is still expected to be sidelined after suffering a broken jaw earlier in the season, but defender Jamie Lowry is likely to return to the squad after suffering a head injury against Brentford.

Richardson said: "I thought we looked a team in the first half at Morecambe.

"Alan Goodall and Aaron Downes at the back were excellent and the front two worked tirelessly.

"At the end of the day it was a point and it put us in double figures which gives us something to build on.

"The effort that all the players put in was there for all to see."

Chesterfield this week dismissed speculation that star striker Jack Lester had handed in a transfer request – much to the relief of Spireites fans.

There had been speculation that the 32-year-old striker had fallen out with manager Lee Richardson, but Lester said: "Nothing has happened like that, the rumours are a bit silly.

"If I did want to leave I would say. I've never handed in a transfer request in my career, so if anything changed I would come out and say that."

Lester was the Spireites leading scorer last season but has only managed to play six games so far this season due to injury.

"I've missed games due to injury, nothing else, obviously someone is trying to unsettle me or the club."

Richardson is expected to keep faith with goalkeeper Trevor Carson who is on a season-long loan from Sunderland.

He is a Northern Ireland Under 21 international and captained Sunderland reserves to victory in the Durham Challenge Cup last season.

Chesterfield will have Aaron Downes, Kevin Austin, Rob Page, and Alan Goodall combining in their defence.

Australian-born Downes is a former Australian Institute of Sport player who played in most of Australia's Olympic qualifying matches, but failed to make the final squad for Beijing.

He initially joined Chesterfield on a short term deal and swept the board at the end of 2006-07 awards.

Downes has had spells at Bolton and in non-league with Frickley Athletic.

Trinidad and Tobago-born Austin was a summer capture from Swansea despite having a year left on his contract at the Swans.

He joined Orient aged 20 from Saffron Walden Town, but he has also had spells at Lincoln, Barnsley, Brentford, Cambridge United, and Bristol Rovers.

He has made just one appearance for Trinidad and Tobago, in 2000 against Panama.

Welsh international, Page, signed during the summer from Huddersfield Town.

He has previous experience with Watford, Sheffield United, Cardiff City and Coventry City.

Page was a target of Chesterfield in January although he moved to Huddersfield at the time. But the Spireites eventually captured him and Richardson appointed him club captain.

Goodall impressed in a pre-season trial game against Sheffield Wednesday and was snapped up within days by the Spireites.

He started his league career aged 22, at Rochdale, who he joined from Bangor City.

Goodall spent three years at Spotland before moving to Luton Town where he was released mid-contract due to the Hatters financial and penalty points problems.

Darren Currie, Derek Niven, Luke Boden, and Gregor Robertson are likely to combine in midfield, if Currie and Robertson recover from their injuries.

Currie signed a three year deal at Chesterfield in the summer. He is the nephew of ex-Blades and Leeds legend, Tony and has played for West Ham, Orient, Shrewsbury, Plymouth, Barnet, Wycombe, Brighton, Ipswich, Coventry, and Derby.

Scottish-born Niven, who started his career at Raith Rovers, signed for Chesterfield from Bolton in March 2004 after two months on loan at the Spireites.

Boden was signed by Chesterfield on a short term deal after being released by Sheffield United.

And Edinburgh-born Robertson is in his second season at the Spireites after joining the club from Rotherham United.

He began his career at Nottingham Forest where he won most of his 15 Scottish Under 21 caps.

Lester will be partnered in attack by former Aston Villa trainee and Torquay United player Jamie Ward.

The Birmingham-born 22 year old and Northern Ireland Youth and Under 21 player scored 11 goals during his spell at Torquay.
