Man admits dealing drugs in Chester
A MAN arrested during a city centre drugs raid has admitted possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply in Chester.
Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston magistrates were told yesterday that Keith Tallant, 24, was arrested following a drugs raid at a property on West Lorne Street on Wednesday.
Sue Gibson, prosecuting, said the raid took place at the home of a friend of Tallant.
Police recovered more than 120 individual wraps of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of about £1,200.
Tallant, of Benedict Street, Liverpool, was also found to have cash totalling £198 and five mobile phones with him.
Miss Gibson said: "A drugs warrant was executed at the address and a quantity of cash and several raps of drugs were recovered.
"The defendant was on bail to Liverpool Magistrates Court for a common assault matter at the time."
The court heard further drugs were found during a strip search of Tallant.
Richard Thomas, defending, said: "It's very rare someone pleads guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, but that shows his attitude towards this.
"He was at a friend's house in Chester and when it was searched by police, produced a bag of drugs from a sock."
Mr Thomas added: "He is a low level individual in the drugs scheme and was given the drugs in Liverpool to sell in Chester."
Bail was refused and Tallant was remanded in custody until the sentencing at crown court on April 21.
